Hey there Guys. I came across an interesting piece of research done in Australia showing that beards can offer protection of the skin from sun damage.
The study performed at University of Southern Queensland showed that having a beard can reduce UV ray exposure to around one third of our non beard wearing friends. Of course these results are dependent on the length of the facial hair as well as the position of the sun on the horizon.
While it’s great that our jaws and chins may have the extra protection, don’t forget to put on some sunscreen onto the rest of your face to help reduce the risk of skin cancers. A little bit of protection can go a long way!
Yours in beard loving health.
