A number of health agencies have released information stating that glory hole (GH) sex is a potential safer option when it comes to sex in our current COVID-19 pandemic.
Glory holes have an advantage in that they eliminate the face to face nature of sex. If the wall is high enough the risk of Coronavirus transmission via breath is greatly reduced, if not eliminated.
But are glory holes Coronavirus safe? I just wanted to share a few points for you to consider where risk can be present.
The Glory Hole & Wall:
COVID is spread from droplets landing on surfaces and later being picked up with hands and passed to other mucous membranes.
If the person using the GH before you was infectious with COVID-19 there is a high risk of virus being deposited onto the wall. This can be transferred onto your hands, face and mouth.
TIP: Before using a GH clean the wall and the hole with an alcohol or other antibacterial/viral wipe.
The Object Passed Through The Glory Hole:
Health guidelines recommend washing our hands after going to the bathroom, not before. If a person has Coronavirus on their hands, it will be transferred to their genitals when the go to the bathroom.
Coronavirus on the genitals presents a risk of transfer directly into the mouth.
There have been a number of studies to see if Coronavirus is passed via semen. Review of these studies is inconclusive.
TIP: Wash what ever passes through the wall with a medical wipe or similar before putting anything into your mouth. We don’t have good data on Coronavirus in semen. It may be best to avoid swallowing cum at this point.
The Venue:
GH’s can be found in sex on premise venues – many of which are currently closed. They are also found in public rest rooms and very occasionally a person may have one set up in their home.
Social distancing and mask wearing in a sex venue is near impossible. I would not recommended attending a sex venue as it could present a high risk of transmission of COVID.
Public glory holes present a risk of assault as well as arrest if caught. Be aware of these risks and your safety before you head out.
When leaving the house remember to follow all current laws with regards to wearing a mask or face coverings. Here in Melbourne there are only 4 reasons you can leave the house: Shopping for essential needs, work, care giving and seeing medical care. Attending a GH is not one of them.
Team I know it’s frustrating and we all desire for this pandemic to be over. We all want to be able to enjoy human touch without the fear of a virus. I urge you to stay safe and seek testing if you develop any cold and flu symptoms.
