How To Care For Your Foreskin
The foreskin is an important organ of the body, made of very delicate tissues. There’s the outside that you see when the foreskin is pulled over. However, when you pull the foreskin back, you can see the inner lining is a different type of skin that is very delicate.
For this reason, it’s really important to look after it carefully. I highly recommend not to use soap on your foreskin.
When soap is used on the foreskin, it can dry out the delicate layers, and they can’t function as they should.
I do recommend using hypoallergenic cleansing products: QV Wash, Cetaphil, or even Phisohex, which is an antibacterial, moisturizing wash.
For most people, I recommend using just water.
In the shower, pull the foreskin back and gently clean the inside of the foreskin and the head of the penis with water.
You may choose to use a hypoallergenic cleanser, rinse off, and then continue with your shower.
Of course, treat your foreskin gently when you’re doing the wash.
If your foreskin does not retract, you can get a washing tool to guide water inside the foreskin. You could use a bulb that is used for cleaning out ears or noses. Anything that will guide a gentle stream of water into the opening of the foreskin can work. Balloon the foreskin out with a little bit of water, and then allow that water to drain out.
After your shower, you can dry yourself off. Gently pull the foreskin back, pat it dry with a towel, apply a tiny amount of moisturiser to the head of the penis and then pull the foreskin back.
If you notice any redness, pain, little cuts or swelling. Come and see your doctor, and we can get it sorted out. Please don’t be embarrassed, I do this all day long, and I want to make sure that you and your foreskin are healthy.
