Have You Seen this Great Smoking Campaign?

June 25, 2012 by George Forgan-Smith Leave a Comment

Hey there Guys,

Today I wanted to share this fantastic video created by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation.

From a psychological perspective this health tool is very powerful. In medicine we use the idea of “see one, do one, teach one” as the steps to mastery of skills. This video shows people inadvertently “teaching one”, offering a healthy message to a child of how smoking can be harmful.

As we speak our subconscious mind hears the words we say; because we hear our own voice we instantly accept what we say as truth. Adding the shock of the note passed from the child jolts the mind and brings this message from the unconscious to the conscious with very powerful effect. As noted at the end of the video many people put their cigarette out immediately.

It’s simple innovations like these that can have high impact on health.  What healthy messages have you told yourself today?

If you are interested in learning more about quitting smoking I highly recommend reading my post on how to quit smoking.

Yours in good health.

Dr George
